I found the key to freedom!
You name it, I've tried it! From diets, detoxes, cleanses and programs to pills, supplements, shakes and pre-packaged foods. I even became my own boss, selling said products because I believed in them so much. Why? Well, because they worked! (surprised to hear that?!) I lost 20-40lbs each time I tried something new. The problem? It never lasted. I gained all of my weight back and then some after a few months each time, and hated myself even more by the end of it. I could never figure out why and thought there was something wrong with me. And then I started to see the same trend with my clients. Their full bags still on top of the refrigerator months later, canceling shipments and gaining their weight back as well. Is there something wrong with all of us??
Although diet is one place to look for losing weight, it is not the only place. When I furthered my learning at IIN, I learned to look at the body as a complete whole. Your diet is only a symptom of a greater cause and although changing it will have great effect, you have to address the root cause of your diet which is the traumas and pains that we have suppressed.
We are convinced that hiding our pain is erasing it but all that is doing, is pushing it into parts of our body where it will fester and eventually show itself; in your joint pain, in your weight gain, in your migraines, in your IBS, in your chronic illness. And then we treat these symptoms with pharmaceuticals, the next fad diet or just wish them away, without addressing where these symptoms originated. I was not overweight BECAUSE I was eating processed foods and copious amounts of sugar and never any water, but because I was overeating to punish myself and using food as a comfort and coping mechanism from my personal traumas that I repressed.
Now that I have a greater understanding of our set backs, I help my clients adapt to the idea of not trying to lose weight and erase their chronic symptoms.
